Heaven

Ok, I forget what it's like to travel--the hassles.  To be traveling for 30 hours, by car, shuttle, plane, bus, trolley car.  To be three minutes from your gate only to be told the gate is closed and you have missed your flight and the next plane to Milan is in four hours. And watching your body adjust to the new time frame--6 hours ahead--having very little sleep and not knowing how to flush the toilet because it's so different than the one at home.  To not speak the language.
Milan was lively and interesting and so good to see my cousin, Nicola and his wife, Adele, but folks, I am in Tuscany now, outside of Siena at a retreat--and it feels like I have died and gone to heaven.  Photos to follow if I can figure it out!

  1. Can you feel the rays of jealousy radiating from Oberlin, Ohio? Hope you're having a dazzling time Mom!

  2. I am very excited for you, Marie! Make certain you experience a wonder-filled odyssey. I will be reading as you sojourn through the country.

My next thought must not become any sort of burden -- I write postcards to my four grandchildren weekly, and traveling friends have been kind enough to pick some cards along their way. The kids have received cards from an array of countries. My writing the cards has become a terrific teaching tool. I ask two of each card be purchased to be sent so each set of grandchildren receives a unique card. I REPEAT -- if this request is an annoyance in the slightest -- then I rescind the thought. Just have a wonder-filled time.
